Rooftop + Gardens

With summer approaching Belvedere residents are reminded of the opportunity to enjoy the views from the rooftop with outdoor seating, barbecue grill and rooftop garden. New this season is a Community Garden on the southeast corner of the roof. Here residents will find:

  • Rosemary, sage, chives, cilantro, Italian flat leaf parsley, dill, Italian oregano, Italian basil, thyme and mint.
  • There is also an herb garden on each of the ground floor patios.
  • Residents are encouraged to take what they need and leave enough for the next resident to enjoy.

Also with better weather, the barbecue grill on the roof will get increased usage. Residents are encouraged to clean the grill after use and a grill brush is located inside the grill cabinet. For those seeking to learn how to use and clean the grill, a Rooftop Grill 101 cooking demonstration will be announced in June.

The rooftop garden includes a Rose Garden, Community Garden, and Committee Garden with an automatic watering system being set up for the summer.

  • Rose Garden on the south side of the roof deck has been pruned (fall), mulched, fertilized, and set for automatic watering. During the summer weekly “dead heading” to keep new blooms coming back.
  • Community Garden is on the southeast corner of the roof deck. Here you will find the herbs available for all Belvedere residents to enjoy:
    • Rosemary, sage, chives, cilantro, Italian flat leaf parsley, dill, Italian oregano, Italian basil, thyme and mint.
    • Residents are encouraged to take what they need and leave enough for the next resident to enjoy.
  • Committee Garden is on the southwest corner of the roof deck. Here the Rooftop Garden Committee members have the opportunity to plant, tend and harvest their own plants. If you would like to help on this committee, contact Steve Armor the building manager (513-919-5572). A meeting will be set up for all interested.
  • North Garden on the north side of the roof features boxwood plants that have to be manually watered and pruned (spring or summer).
